Introducing White Soda

Aussie kids love summer... for six months of every year our children practically live in their swimsuits, the beautiful colours mimic the sounds of laughter and the very idea of pulling on their favourite swimsuit represents a summer of water play.

White Soda was born from a foundation of fashion and fun - a collection of girls and boys mix and match swimwear and accessories in classic styling with a modern twist. The concept is simple - summer swim essentials that have a serious side without sacrificing style.

Australian designed and made, White Soda swim is constructed from UPF 50+ chlorine resistant stretch PBT. With many parents frustrated at the short life span of their children's swimwear, the White Soda collection is kid ready... colourfast and tough, a child should should grow out of their swimwear, not have it fall apart while it still fits perfectly.

The White Soda debut collection features matching co-ordinates in the seasons must have sorbet colours - rash tops, matching separates, boardshorts, bikinis, one-pieces, hats and swim nappys. For active children aged 0 - 8 years .

Behind the Label

Sisters Danielle Thurston and Romi Okun were destined to run their own fashion business. The cards were on the table from the beginning, but like so many mum-trepeneurs it wasn't until the birth of their children that they knew what it was they actually wanted to do.

Going back two generations, Danielle and Romi's grandparents were at the heart of the Melbourne garment business, knitters by trade. Their father was the founder of 80's iconic children's label Hangabouts, and their mother Mary Goldfarb is the owner of prestige boutique Studio MG, the Melbourne inner city fashion gallery that showcases international labels such as Marni, Girbaud & Chloe, as well as a selection of Australian designer labels.

The sisters spent their pre-child years building successful careers for themselves. Romi completed her Bachelor of Business majoring in marketing, going on to pursue a career in events and communications. Danielle on the other hand nurtured her design talent and flair for fashion, first completing an arts degree at Monash University and then an interior design diploma at RMIT, moving into a highly sought after role of buyer at ODW for international labels including Miu Miu, Prada & Marc Jacobs.

When the opportunity to start their childrens label White Soda surfaced, the girls had the knowledge, family support and previous exposure to the industry that took much of the guesswork out of starting a fashion business.

As their idea grew into a reality with a beating heart, Danielle and Romi naturally fell into their respective roles. Says Romi, "When we were developing the White Soda business Danielle was more involved in the aesthetics, design and production whilst I had the more practical, business mind - so together we formed a perfect business partnership! We are however both jointly involved in every decision, looking after sales, marketing and operations".

Combining their business acumen with a clear sense of creative direction, Danielle and Romi are committed to the success of their brand. Not just to ‘filling a gap' in the children's lifestyle apparel market, but to building a brand that delivers on their promise through product offering, quality and service.
